I wasn’t able to read well, so I did the jobs no one else wanted to do. If a job had a test, I would walk away. I couldn’t read or understand the questions on the tests. I could only look for work where there was an oral interview. Reading stories to my children, I sounded like I was drunk.— Suzie

We love the Summer Reading Program for kids and it was extremely motivating and positive for my 5 year old daughter. She was truly proud she read 50+ books for it throughout the summer. Thank you. Also, we’ve found staff at the library to be very helpful and love spending time at the library.

Not knowing how to read kills the person you really are—you hold back. If you learn to write and read, you can defend your life better. Learning how to write and read is a whole new world. I used to hide, but not anymore— Richard

I, personally, like the Teen Summer Reading program and movie nights. It is extremely fun and a great way to make new friends.

I have gone back to try to learn what I missed learning. I am learning every day. I feel my goal of what I really, really want can be achieved within the next three years, and I will be able to read, write, spell, and do math problems.— Suzie

I think the teen programs at the library are very important to me. It is a nice thing to do during the summer when I am not on vacation.
