The Youth Services, which covers both children and teens, librarians found this lovely letter from the 49ers SLI students in the library last week. We’re glad the library was able to help them with their Robotics Competitions!

On Sunday March 12, the Library and the Wilcox High School Programming Club hosted its first 12 hour hackathon, SCHACKS. The content of this event was organized entirely by the WHS students. They also worked the whole 14 hour day and recruited the judges. Despite the 8:00 a.m. start time, made even earlier because of […]

Last week, the Santa Clara City Library Central Park Teen Librarians held a Harry Potter Prom! Despite all the rain, over 90 high schoolers attended. They feasted, made wands and potions, answered trivia, and had their fortunes told. They even dressed up! Everyone had a magical time. Thanks teen librarians!

This year, SCCLFF sponsored the Santa Clara City Library’s Comic Con! This was a hugely successful event, drawing over 11,000 people from all over Silicon Valley. They got to play some games that hadn’t been released yet! One of our librarians went old school in their arcade. Everyone […]

We were happy to provide the prizes for Northside’s Geocache and Scavenger Hunt last week. It sounds like it was both fun and educational: “A clue from our scavenger hunt only took teams to the location. Then people had to scour the location for a hidden envelope,” Ocana says. “There were three teams with seven kids […]

Last month, the Teen department put on a party for all the Teens who use and support the library. It was Great Gatsby themed, and it looks like it was a great time. It’s fabulous to see all these happy faces!

We are so happy to have brought on another sponsor for summer reading: Bandai Namco Entertainment! They publish a ton of anime and games (eg Tekken, Warhammer), and are, we think, a great fit with our TeenRead Summer Reading program. Bandai Namco is offering two gift baskets for prizes (pictured above) and a grand prize […]

Congratulations to Angela Ocana, one of the amazing librarians at Northside! She is the first-ever recipient of the California Library Association’s Young Adult Services Award. She won because (these are her manager’s words): She exceeds the criteria through her out-of-the-box programs including Teen Chopped Champions, Cupcake Wars, STEM Bowl, and epic nerf war battles. She is passionate […]
