Daily at the Friends Bookstore
Located in the Santa Clara Central Park Library, at 2635 Homestead Road in Santa Clara, the bookstore is usually open when the library itself is open.
The Central Park Library is currently open:
Monday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tuesday, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Wednesday, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sunday, CLOSED

Staffed by volunteers, the bookstore generally opens soon after the library opens and closes when the library does. The store offers a good selection of adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction. Most books are priced at $2.00 or 3 for $5.00. Friends Members get a 10% discount on their purchases. If you are a teacher and have identification, you will also get a 10% discount on your purchases.
The books for sale are both library discards and books donated by the public. Proceeds go to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends in order to support The Santa Clara City Library.
Note: The bookstore will not be open if a volunteer is not available for a given shift.
There is now a book alcove located at the Northside Library just to your right as you walk in the main entrance. Purchases can be made at the front desk.

Monthly Saturday Book Sales
We host monthly book sales at the Central Park Library. The Central Park Book Sales happen on the third Saturday of every month except December.
Our Next Monthly Book Sale at Central Park Library
Our next monthly book sale is at Central Park Library on Friday April 19 from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM and Saturday April 20 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Friday, shop in the Margie Room. Everything is priced per item.
We’ll have thousands of books for sale in the Margie Room and on the front patio of the library.
In the Margie Room items are priced per item (starting at less than $1) from 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. The room will close for 15 minutes, and will reopen for our popular bag sale from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Prices are $5 per standard paper grocery bag full of books. We do have some paper bags, but you can also bring your own. We reserve the right to change the price of the bag if your bag is not a standard-sized grocery bag.
Books for sale on the Front Patio start at $2 each and are individually priced for the entire time.
If you have a Friends Membership, we have two special shopping hours in the Margie Edinger Room! They are Friday from 12pm – 1pm (the room closes completely at 1pm) and Saturday from 9am – 10am. Buy your Friends Membership today to get these special shopping hours.
All teachers with identification will get a 10% discount on their purchases at the monthly book sale.

Outdoor Book Sales at Northside Library
Our next monthly book sale at Northside Library will be on Friday April 26 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

You can find all kinds of books at our online store, conveniently delivered to your house. We regularly feature categories of books on our social media accounts – you can find them on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Northside Book Sales
Patio Sales at Northside Library
Northside Library also sometimes hosts patio sales. Keep an eye on our Latest News section for information about these sales.
Starting on April 26, we’ll have a book sale every other Friday from 10am – noon going forward. So, April 26, May 10, and May 26 in the mornings on the front patio.
We usually have 200-300 books for sale, with lots of Children’s books, classics (like Shakespeare), cookbooks, and more.
Book Nook at Northside Library
Don’t forget the nook! If you can’t make it to Northside library for one of our patio sales, we always have books for sale in the nook next to the customer service desk. Pay at the customer service desk.
